Behind Alice Birch’s overt radicality lie subtler mechanisms revealing how trauma, pain, and identity are shaped by misunderstandings, expectations, and social structures. This project investigates how external systems, language, institutions, and social roles become internalized, how the public becomes personal, and how criticism turns inward. The project aims to rethink space as something fixed, defined, and often normative, questioning its rigidity.

The SS56 project was developed through a blend of costumes, performance, and video installations.

Divided into two parts _ Excess and Scarcity_ ,the fashion collection transforms visible signs of environmental strain (like dry skin, bloated features, or swelling) into accessories that are branded as a new style, rather than insecurities created by the lack or excess of water, and the climate crisis as a whole.

The project underscores a critical psychological aspect: people often don't act on serious issues like the climate crisis until they feel its effects personally. By turning these impacts into fashion, SS56 plays on this tendency, showing how insecurities linked to environmental changes can be manipulated. Fashion becomes a psychological tool, not just a statement, influencing how people perceive urgent matters when they touch individual lives. In making the climate crisis wearable, SS56 critiques society’s tendency to engage with environmental issues only at a surface level.
It reveals how fashion can be used to reshape public awareness, masking the severity of the problem while bringing it into the spotlight through trends rather than action
.



Beckett_unwrapped

Exhibition  Design


Beckett Unwrapped builds the world of Endgame through objects, actions, and settings, creating a visual narrative shaped by subtle associations. Selected props are grouped into themes such as hierarchy and dependence, limited perspectives, power relations, choreographed and repetitive movements, symbolic gestures, and existential questions of impermanence and futility, choreographing Beckett’s narrative through space.

Stage Design

Le sacre du printemps, a piece about an event that evokes grief, helplessness, excitement, fight, acceptance, and peace. Two entities, the foundation of being, regardless of culture, gender, race two froces greater than "___" unresolved irony of life and death. The narrative of a spring in this piece is a continuum where people inevitably try to make sense of existence through culture, through power, force, definitions, and meanings, and consequently acceptance of not being able to control things, the finality of that acceptance.

What is a ritual?
The routine of thought, the search for meaning, the escape from meaning, the
repression of the search itself. And always, waiting.
Waiting, waiting, change. Process over final form,
this is what life and death become.
A metamorphosis of human cognition and body.
A dreamlike liminality,
where transformation is felt but not yet fully understood.
A fractured perception of time
past, present, and future selves blur together.
A loss of agency
change happens, rather than it being a choice.

This project explores loneliness as the state of having to enter or escape an altered condition. It is understood through the lens of neuroscientific brain activity. The brain becomes both the driving force and the sole means of navigation in moments of extreme distress, sleep paralysis, vivid hypnagogic visions, paranoia, or, in more severe cases, disassociative episodes.

The work is inspired by the N1 stage of sleep, the threshold between wakefulness and dreaming. Research shows that time spent in this transitional phase during sleep onset is associated with an increased capacity for creative problem-solving. N1 is a liminal zone where perception shifts, the body releases control, and the mind drifts into autonomous momentum.

This video installation explores a space where loneliness is where fear and creation feed each other.






All are equal?

Exhibition Design

Built on the seminar “All are equal?” at UdK Berlin, this exhibition featured works by students that were navigating topics such as feminist history, protest movements against patriarchal systems, advocacy for disability rights, and the persistent challenges of exclusion and discrimination. The focus was on how these issues can be transformed into spatial and artistic expressions for the exhibition.
